Download & installJellyfish tutorial environment for Windows NT® or 98 |
You will need a Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 98 computer which is connected to the internet using EtherNet or similar.
You will also need some basic software on your computer in order to acquire and unpack the files. If you do not have a Zip file extractor on your computer, click here.
Instructions for installing and testing WebSite 1.1e are provided in the Zip file.
These instructions will assume that you have installed WebSite on your C: drive. If you do not have room on your C: drive then you can use any other drive but there are some additional steps in this case (more later).
You will need to pass a security check.
When the file Jelly98Core.zip is extracted you should see a new directory on your hard disc called TEMP. Inside this directory you should see some more new directories:
Please follow these instructions carefully. When the instructions say "move the contents" of a directory you really do need to open the directory and move only the contents, that is, all the things in the directory. If you move the whole directory you will inadvertently delete important files.
Let's assume that you installed WebSite on your C: drive and that you are also installing Jellyfish on your C: drive. It is possible to install either component on any other drive but there are additional steps (more later).
Once you have emptied the directories
Feel free to delete them.
If you encounter any problems with your new Jellyfish environment, have a look at these pictures of correct directory structures:
If you installed everything on your C: drive then it should all simply work since all the internal references are set up for drive C:.
Note: WebSite allows something called "file mappings" which can make you miserable if you don't understand them. You might want to read the WebSite documentation about this. In particular note that the word "java" tends to be mapped to a particular directory within the WebSite directory. If your copy of WebSite is doing this then it may affect what you should have in the codebase.html file. If the java applets in the Jellyfish environment do not appear because they cannot be found, this is almost certainly the problem.
The Jellyfish98Core.zip file contains only the core of the system files. You should probably download one or more courses. They are not included in the Core because they are quite large files which you may not actually want. Click here to read about and download the courses.
